Metal Monday 6-18

We hope this Metal Monday finds you well and rested.

Some of our favorite products are rusted, but metal doesn't just start out that way, so sometimes we have to do a little prep work to get the finish we'd like to have. Here you can see the early stages of our rusting process, where the bare steel is still showing and you can start to see small amounts of rust happening.
We take bare steel and spray it with our special rusting mixture and then let it sit out with moisture in the air. As you can see here, the rusting starts almost immediately, and it is pretty neat to watch it turn from blueish-grey to rust!
An interesting piece to note - we live in the high desert - often times there is NO moisture in the air! This proves challenging when intentionally trying to rust metal, so we've had to get creative to find ways to keep the rusting process going. ;)

As we continue to learn and grow in our business, we have found that sometimes we need to think outside of the box in order to come up with solutions or new ideas. Keeping things the same or just accepting what "is" won't always work and it won't allow for growth.

"There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns."

— Edward de Bono
